IzeaRank is a new ranking especially for bloggers. So what does that mean? It means if you have a blog, this new system will be useful in telling people how well your blog traffic & influence in the web. It does not use any special algorithm like Googles use. The best of it IzeaRank algorithm is make public.

IzeaRank uses real data via actual site statistic to calculate your ranking in blogosphere. It works similar to all ranking system. The lower the number shows better ranking.

So how are IzeaRank calculated? Here is the snippet from IzeaRank website;-

RealRank utilizes the IZEA Toolkit (ITK) to provide real visitor data collected from a piece of code blog owners embed on their blog. The data is used to define an individual blogs overall standing relative to other blogs participating in the program as well as in specific categories such as entertainment and technology.

Unlike other ranking systems, the RealRank scoring algorithm is public. The system weights blogs 70% on daily unique visitors, 20% by daily active inbound links and 10% by daily page views as reported by ITK.

Wow… This is better for bloggers & advertisers out there.. Personally I feel this will work well for us bloggers. This system is much more accurate than Alexa or Google’s ranking system.

Just found out Advertlets is up. Domain has been renewed & it seems everything is up to normal. The owner of Advertlets.com has written a very long email addressing the recent issue.

Actually it was immature for me to think Advertlets.com has run away without giving some thought of what had actually happen.. I’m so sorry.. Anyway, I’m am human & human do make emotional reactions to a sudden events. We are all emotional human being. Frustration took over me & that is my very first reaction.

What a surprise when I open my browser. It directed to a stupid unknown site with www.advertlets.com as title! The very first thought in my mind told me that it must have something to do with advertlets.com.

So I did enter advertlets.com on my browser address & enter! kaboom.. advertlets.com domain expired on the 3rd Jan 2008! What????!!! I was right.. this conclude my suspicion..

The strange thing about it is that if you have put up an advertlets Ads in your blog & when you try to go to your blog, it directed to an unknown site called adbaaz.com.

This really make me MAD! It steal your traffic from you!! Things people do just to get that extra traffic & free advertisement the dishonest way..

I had remove the Ads from this blog to avoid them stealing my traffic & readers. For those who gotAdvertlets Ads in your blog, please do remove them so that you won’t lose your readers to the dishonest people..

What a surprise when I saw my Google Toolbar yesterday.. It displayed a 3/10 PageRank for this blog.. It only shows that Google has recently updated its database. I was not sure when it displayed 3/10 ranking. I did a check on a few PR checkers in the internet. It is true that my blog had recently updated with PR ranking of 3/10.

My blog is quite new.. It’s only 5 months old.. & it did surprised me in a way as I wasn’t really expecting it.. Enough about that..

WordPress recently release a latest version 2.3.1. Please do update your wordpress script at http://wordpress.org/download/..

I have updated mine & you should do so as it involve several security fixes. A very important update..

I found out that MyBlogLog Login was migrated to Yahoo Login. I have this feeling that the migration of the logins took place long time ago probably a few months ago but I noticed it only yesterday. I did not realize it because I am always log on 24 hours daily.

It is when I clicked my account link on top that it directed me to a Yahoo Login followed by myBlogLog Login. They are merging the 2 logins. Initially I got an error on my step 2. I felt very frustrated. Tried again but the same result keep repeating. I ended up emailing the support group. Only this morning that I am able to complete my MgBlogLog Login migration to Yahoo login.

It is strange when you receive no news about the migration at all from MyBlogLog. I wonder why there are no news to inform it’s members. Initially I thought Yahoo bought over MyBlogLog. Hahaha.. I felt so ignorant & stupid!

For those of you who are like me, always log on 24 hours daily, you should log out & login again to complete the migration to yahoo login. If you encounter error, please email the support for assistance.

The funny thing about it, all this while, I thought MyBlogLog is not under Yahoo services but they are. Yahoo are sure one BIG happy family.. Hahaha..

This past few days, I been trying out a lot of new things on my site. Testing out new things that I have not try before. What an eye opener it has been for me. Web 2.0 is heavily storming the internet. I shall go to that direction as well.

Firstly, my upgrading to WordPress 2.3 was completed. My Mandigo Theme latest version upgraded. Wah.. Lucky for me, it went smoothly. No problem.

Secondly, I am trying out FeedBurner for the first time & still playing around with it. Pretty cool stuffs they have there. I wonder why I did not use it before. Lol..

Lastly, I am also trying out Singapore Entrepreneur Alvin Phang’s Atomic Blogging & BlogCashGuide products hoping to learn & get more targeted traffic. I will be giving a full review of his products soon. Maybe, one month later or sooner.

It is to my understanding that Alvin Phang has a unique way of getting tons of targeted traffic by using & getting involve with Web 2.0 platform applications. More about this later in his product review.

The latest version 2.3 is finally out with tons of features. The features are taken from WordPress.org

Remember to backup your old version before upgrading!! Backup your MySql database as well!!

Here we go…

1. Native tagging support allows you to use tags in addition to categories on your post, if you so choose. We’ve included importers for the Ultimate Tag Warrior, Jerome’s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny’s Technorati Tag plugins so if you’ve already been using a tagging plugin you can bring your data into the new system. The tagging system is also wicked-fast, so your host won’t mind.

2. Our new update notification lets you know when there is a new release of WordPress or when any of the plugins you use has an update available. It works by sending your blog URL, plugins, and version information to our new api.wordpress.org service which then compares it to the plugin database and tells you what the latest and greatest is you can use.

3. We’ve cleaned up URLs a bunch in a feature we call canonical URLs which does things like enforce your no-www preference, redirect posts with changed slugs so a link never goes bad, redirect URLs that get cut off in emails on similar to the correct post, and much more. This helps your users, and it also helps your search engine optimization, as search engines like for each page to be available in one canonical location.

4. Our new pending review feature will be great for multi-author blogs. It allows authors to submit a post for review by an editor or administrator, where before they would just have to save a draft and hope someone noticed it.

5. There is new advanced WYSIWYG functionality (we call it the kitchen sink button) that allows you to access some features of TinyMCE that were previously hidden.

You’ll notice that two of those features are straight out of the most-voted for ideas list. That’s just the user facing stuff, if you’re a developer you’ll be interested in:

1. Full and complete Atom 1.0 support, including the publishing protocol.

2. We’re using the new jQuery whis is “800% faster.”

3. Behind the user-facing tags system is a really kickass taxonomy system which, which adds a ton of flexibility. It’s probably the biggest schema upgrade since version 1.5.

4. The importers have been revamped to be more memory efficient, and you can now add an importer through a plugin.

5. Through hooks and filters you can now override the update system, the dashboard RSS feeds, the feed parser, and tons more than you could in 2.2.

6. The new $wpdb->prepare() way of doing SQL queries.

7. Finally there were over 351 tickets in Trac closed for this release, with over a hundred people contributing. This is the polish, the hundreds of tiny bug fixes and features that make WordPress what it is.

WordPress latest 2.3 is coming up soon. It is said that there are tons of new features. I was wondering what is the new features will be.

As right now, I am still using Version 2.2.2 & I might want to upgrade to Version 2.3. Maybe I might not upgrade it straight away but maybe after a couple of days it is launch later.

It is understand that some plugins might not work well with Version 2.3. Google sitemap plugin is one of those plugins having a lot of issues.

Upgrading at times can be troublesome as you might seriously encounter incompatible issue with version 2.3.  The best solution against upgrade disaster is always to make a backup to your current working version.

Honestly, I hate upgrading but if you don’t upgrade, you will lose out of the new features. I have been trying hard to avoid upgrading due to incompatible issues. BUT this time round, I will upgrade. In fact, my theme version is also outdated. Will upgrade that as well.

Just hope that, my upgrading to version 2.3 & my theme upgrade will be smooth. For those of you who wish to upgrade, always backup your current version plus your mySql databases. These two backups is very important to avoid upgrade disaster. Always follow the steps given by wordpress.org when you upgrade.
