How I wish network marketing leaders can be found from planet Mars or even at all shopping malls where you can find easily just like you buy groceries for daily consumption. That’s a joke. Haha.

So really, where do we find leaders in network marketing. I know there is 2 exact ways to find them.

Firstly, you steal leaders from other companies. Yes, I am not kidding. In network marketing, people steal leaders all the time. People will find all sort of ways to lure leaders to your MLM company. The best part of it, these leaders do jump from one company to another just for that extra benefits.

The bad thing about this way is that the leaders that you manage to bring over to your MLM company might leave your company for another. They done it before & they certainly can do it again. Once they leave your company, what happen to you? You have a new full time job replacing temporary leaders. That is just a waste of your time. My advice to you, don’t steal leaders from other companies. They are normally not as loyal as you think they are.

So now the actual best way to find leaders is to groom them from scratch. Yes. Leaders are not born, they are build to lead. This means that you have to find a distributor that you can train them to be leaders. Well, that’s it. It is that easy. Haha. You are wrong, my friend.

Now the question is how do you find a suitable distributor to be train into a leader. Have you ever tried to train a distributor & hoping he will one day become a leader but as always, it did not turn out the way you want. They are just not capable to be one even though how hard you try to train them. Imagine the time you wasted in training this distributor for one year plus & still nothing.

There is a way to overcome this. We do not choose any distributor Dick, Jane or Mary to be train as a leader. We need to test the distributors first to see if they are qualified to be one.

Here is a simple test you can follow. Give them a book to read & tell them by the end of the week, you will meet up & discuss the book. It does not matter what book you give them. The idea of this simple test is to see whether this distributor will take action by reading it & later discuss it with you. If he or she did read the book, then you are in luck. This distributor have the potential to be a leader.

However, if he or she gives you all sort of reasons for not able to read the book like I got work or something come up or got soccer match to watch, then obviously he is not the right candidate for the post. Imagine if you need him to attend a seminar or help host a training session & he or she gives you all sort of reasons not able to commit, then you are wasting your time.

This simple test does not have to be using a book. You can use other thing as well like watching DVD, listen to audio or something. It is just a test to test his commitment. It is as simple as that. Build your network marketing leaders from scratch. They tends to be loyal than stealing leaders from other MLM companies.

So now, what is the real definition of a leader in network marketing? Are you the leader that people are looking for? Are you? I am sure many of us are still trying to find out the answer to that. Some even self declare themselves as leader even without knowing what the true definition of a leader.

This is what I know of to the true definition of a leader. In fact, there are 3 definitions all together.

Definition#1
Leaders are professional students of the business particularly in network marketing. We are all students of network marketing. Actually they read manuals or procedures of their business. They listen to audios, read books, attend seminars, attend conventions & always together with their upline. They are easy to spot when you attend a seminar. They study hard on the business. In fact, if you are reading this article, you yourself are a potential leader. You are always on the edge looking for new ideas & informations.

Definition#2
A leader is someone who is able cover you when you are away on holidays. This leader will take over your role of hosting a opportunity meeting, making sure everything is fine & running smoothly. They pay for the room rental & conduct trainings. Leaders will do all that without any motivation from you. In fact, they would love you go on holidays forever so that they can take the responsibility away from you. The best thing is that you are not worried leaving the job to this leader.Definition#3
This is toughest of all. A leader will be able to handle problems. This separates the so called leaders from real leaders. A simple test is that will the problems in your leader’s downline escalate all the way up to you? If it does, this so called leader is not a leader because he is unable to solve a problem within his team. He seek your help & expertise to solve the issue.

With the combination of the 3 definitions, we now know what qualities a leader should have. Well, that’s an achievement today but we need to move on to the next topic.

Now that we know what a leader should be, where do we find them? This will be discuss in the next topic or post.

In network marketing or MLM, leaders are always confused about what to get or do to grow their MLM business fast. What should they concentrate on doing? Building leaders or distributors? Who is more important? What should a leader do? So many questions but not a single clear answer.

If you are a regarded by other people as a leader in an MLM company, I am sure you got no problem recruiting a prospect all by yourself. You can do all the necessary things required to build your team BUT how do you do it fast & consistently?

The answer does not lies on your ability to recruit distributors BUT building leaders in your team. They must become you. A leader should know how to build a leader in his team. Without leaders in your team, you will be always busy recruiting distributors in order to maintain a consistent flow of income.

A leader is someone who is loyal & has the ability to build an army or team. Leaders always stay loyal & distributors come & go. Without leaders, your big mass of distributors will lose it’s focus & direction.

In a successful MLM team, building leaders is very important in order to be successful in MLM.

Let’s now find leaders. Haha.. It is not that easy. We need a plan to master building a leader. There is 3 step to this.

This will be the continuation of Find Good Prospect – Change What You Said. In Part 1, I mentioned “Principle of Disagreement” . Basically it means:-

“In order to participate or take control of a conversation, you must disagree with the person talking.”

Here is an example:-

If I were to have coffee with 10 mechanics & say to them, “The engine of this Toyota is the finest engine made in the automotive industries.” Do you think they will agree to my statement? NO! They will disagree. Some might say the engine of the other brand is better or the brand is the finest or quietest. They will have different opinions. In order for them to participate in the conversation, they need to disagree.

Now that we know people disagree to take part in a conversation, let’s now imagine you, Bob, & I, Uanz, were sitting in front of each other drinking coffee. You say to me,”Hey Uanz, you have a boring, stupid job. You need a great opportunity that my business can offer.”

In order for me to participate in the conversation, I have to disagree. I defend myself by saying, “You are wrong Bob. I like my job a lot. It is a great job. I only work 2 days in a week & if I am sick for 2 days, I get 1 week off. I have a lot of time with my family. It is good.”

Does that sound like someone who loves his job? YES!!

Does that sound like a good prospect? NO!!

This time round using the Principle of Disagreement, you, Bob will say this,”Hey Uanz, you have a very good, wonderful job. You only work 2 days a week & have lots of time for your family. I envy you a lot.” I respond by disagreeing,”No.. No.. Bob.. It is lousy & horrible. I work only 2 days a week & don’t earn enough money for food & leisure. I have no money to go out & have fun. I wish there is a better opportunity out there. ”

Again asking the same question, does that sound like someone who loves his job? NO!!

In fact, that sounds like someone who is open for an opportunity. Good Prospect? YES!!

What can you learn from the 2 examples?

Whatever you say to me has an effect and it steers me to either be a good or a bad prospect. You control the outcome.

A common mistake made by people who are trying to find a prospect is starting off by saying,”We have this terrific opportunity. It is superb.”

If the prospect wants to participate in the conversation, he needs to disagree by saying either, “That sounds weird,” or “I don’t know about that. Let me take a look later,” or some other excuses which shows their disinterest in the subject.

That’s how this conversation will end, without you being able to continue telling the prospect about the great opportunity.

Now you know why you always fail to get good prospect. It is the opening line that matters.

Let’s try the “Principle of Disagreement” concept on your friends & family. Give it a try. See if it works.

Ask them what they do for living? After they answered your question, just say something positive like, “Oh really, I heard that it is a great way to make a lot of money” or “Wow! That’s a cool job!”. Create an opportunity for you to give them a positive response & wait for them to disagree with your statement.

This is a great way for them to get fired up, realizing what they are sitting on.

On a personal note, the “Principle of Disagreement” concept works well with the non-Asian culture. I have no idea how well it will work for Asians as we tend to be more humble in our response regardless. However, Asians nowadays are getting more & more open compared to those in the olden days. This concept is still worth a try.

Let me continue on Finding Good Prospect discussion. Another important tip is to change what you said. Your very first sentence to a potential prospect is very important. Your very first sentence will be the decision point for potential prospect to decide. It is a critical point whether they will decide to go to your flow or just ignore you completely.

Ask yourself this question, “Did it have anything to do with the prospect or everything to do with what I said or what I do?”

Why is it when you approached a person to ask them to join your MLM company, they ignore you completely or don’t seem interested at all BUT when someone else with the same MLM company as you approached the very same person, he reacted differently & seem interested in joining his team.

Why is this happening? What make this “someone” different than you? Both of you are from the same MLM company with the same compensation plan, why did he join this “someone” and not you?

You need to understand that people are neutral at some point. They make decision based on what you said or did. People buy YOU not the PRODUCT. People buy your services not product. That is why it is always got to do with your very first sentence to your prospect.

So how do you start with your first sentence? What should you say to potential prospect? I am going to tell you a concept that will help you in creating that ideal first sentence. The concept is known as “Principle of Disagreement”. It goes like this..

In order to participate or take control of the conversation, you must disagree with the person talking.

What it means is that, there will be no conversion unless there is disagreement.

This month has been busy for me but let me continue on what I have been learning from the internet. In any business that you have, finding good prospects is the key to your success. But how do you prospect the best possible way?

Questions like below normally come out:-
1) How to find new prospect?
2) How to create prospect in demand?

Below are some general ways that you follow to prospect. It is just some ideas but very useful tips.

Signature File

If you notice, in any normal daily emails from your friends, colleagues or families, most of their emails don’t have signature file. Even if they do have signature file in their emails, normally, it looks like this:-

P.S. for the best opportunity or business & growing fast.. bla.. bla.. bla..

People will just ignore it. You need a different approach in using your signature file. Make it funny or make it curious enough for people to click it. Here’s an example:-

A when they click on the link, I will show them a little funny presentation on why woman are better networkers than men. The viral effect will take place. People will start sending emails to their friends & they in turn send to their friends. They send because it is funny.

Blogging in MLM is such a powerful tools. Furthermore it will be able to attract targeted traffic. What is blogging? It is an online journal. It is a way of communicating to an internet audience. Is it effective in MLM? I have to say yes to it. Ever since I started blogging, I had seen an improvement of targeted visitors to my MLM page & had an increase in the number of subscribers to learn more my MLM business.

However, I found out that most network marketers don’t use blogging to promote their MLM business. Why? I have no idea why but they should use it because it has great advantages.

Why is blogging a powerful tool in internet marketing?

Firstly, it will save you a lot of time as your business grows. In MLM, proper training is important & blogging is one way to ensure proper training is given. When you blog, you are actually documenting your failures & success in MLM. You know what will work or fail. If your downline read your blog, they will learn that & will shorten their training time. Duplication is important in MLM. By documenting your footstep in MLM in blogs, downlines will be able to follow your step & they will see similar results as yours.

Secondly, blogging has this special community feeling attached to it. Network marketing is about creating communities of the same interest & very focus on the same goals. Blogging is just the same. It is personal. Every entry posted shares a little piece of your personality. As your blog grows, so will your team spirit & a sense of belonging will be created. Blogging is one way you communicate with your team. Building relationship with your team is extremely crucial & blogging is the best communicating tool ever created apart from emails follow up & forums.

Thirdly, blogging works well with prospecting in MLM. Let say a prospect opt in to receive emails, saw your sales page & they want to try it but they are little skeptical about it. A minute later another email came from you saying, “My friend, I know you got a few questions to ask about this business so why don’t you check out my team blog to get a better idea of what we are doing?” They check out the blog & saw many informations, interaction between members that shows a sense of community & caring. If they are satisfied, they might join you & the team. No question ask. No need need to call them prospecting anymore. Internet rules!

Lastly, blogging get targeted traffic at least 30 to 100 visitors a day easily & it is free. Using blogging communities to drive targeted traffic is the best. The entry you make can easily make to the search engine fast because of the ping features blog has over a normal site.

In Summary, blogging has work wonders for me. There are many bloggers out there who blogs seriously & the traffic they get is superb. The best is they are not in any network marketing business. Can you imagine the big advantages these serious bloggers have if one day they decided to join an MLM business just like mine. Wow.. But again, that is only if they want Big residual income monthly.

What will you do once you joined a MLM company? Getting into MLM is easy but how do you make sure you get off a good start? First of all, you need to attend trainings repeatedly & listen to your upline. If your upline is not qualified, go to higher level upline. Keep going up until you find a qualified upline that can mentor or coach you.

Once you have downlines under you, you need to be prepare to be a leader & duplicate what your upline have taught you. DUPLICATION is the key to building a long term business because your downlines are able to do the same thing what you are doing.

Many MLM leaders are fantastic speakers & powerful trainers in MLM. Some even wrote books on how to be successful. One big mistakes that a new member in MLM normally did is that they bought tons of books, videos & audios in that field thinking they are well equipped to go out there & start their massive sponsoring. Some even tried to talk like them, be confident & walk like them but the tricky part is the duplicating the same charisma & having the same influence like their upline. It is even true even if you have read tons of books about self-improvement, it might not even work for you because you won’t have the same charm as the author.

I am not saying that buying & reading books are bad. Books that are factual & educational will help you more in making a correct decision. It is bad trying to become another person that you are not & using his or her techniques will always leads to disappointment with the book itself. This will leads you to get another book on MLM success & it tends to repeat the cycle again & again. Eventually they become sick of reading & stop reading all together.

Important Key to Remember:

Leaders are not born. They are developed over time. Those who succeed will have to pay the price of earning & growing. Those who make it in MLM in a short time had already paid the price or were lucky enough to find downlines who already had paid the price.

My question to you is have you paid the price?

In summary, MLM is not an easy road to walk on & there are many obstacles along the way. Choosing the right company is very important & getting off the right foot is important as well. Regardless of success or failure in MLM, it is indeed a worthwhile journey because of the things that you learn along the way. It is indeed priceless learning curve.

MLM Risks? What are they? Risks is common in our daily life. There are always risk in our life. In our home or outside of your home, you are bound to have risk. Your own judgment will help in minimizing the risk involve.

You need to know if you are joining a MLM company, you need to be in there very long to make serious lots of money. There are many people out there in MLM that only think about making $500-$1000 part time or sideline would be enough & be very happy about it. What happen to them? They give mediocre commitment or half hearted effort that it did not even help them get that $500 in the first place! Poor Chap!

There are others that say to themselves, once they found 3 to 4 downline under them, they can rest & set for life while their downlines will work their butts off building the network. MLM requires hard work. MLM is a business that appreciates in value over time.

Which one do you prefer?

$10,000 a day every month

or

$0.01 double everyday per month?

$10,000 dollars may seem a lot to most of the people compared to getting 1 cents on the first day. If you do the maths on this, you may noticed that in 1 month,

$10,000 * 30 = $300,000

where else,

$0.01 double everyday for 30 days = $5,368,709.12 !!! Wow!!

Don’t be discourage or despair if you not making any money the first 6 months. Those are your training months. Just remember that no one succeed without learning hand on experience.

Please pace yourself. Remember Rome is not built on a single day. Please do it at a proper pace whether you know your financial limitations. Ask yourself:

-Can you afford the joining fee?
-Are you prepared for the obvious overheads like petrol, food and training materials?
-If you don’t make money in the first six months, can you survive?
-Are you prepared to cut down on your luxuries so you can work out your business?
-Are you prepared to LEARN?

That sum it up. Hope you guys learn something here.. MLM is hard work & it is a long term learning commitment. If you join because of part time or join with half heartedness, better don’t join. No need to waste your upline time.

It is crucial in MLM to join the correct team. Therefore today’s topic would be the Importance of MLM Team. So let me start off with the uplines.

The Uplines

Uplines will always be there for you but what attitude should you adopted? The attitude that you should have is that you are in business for yourself & not by yourself. That is what you should adopt. Since you are in business for yourself, you are the one who are going to create success, you are the one who will write history, you will be the one who are going to make money. It all depend on YOU. Having an uplines is just a bonus for you. They are there to help you in whatever he can but the one who is going to make sure making it is none other than yourself. You make your own success. In a normal business, no one will open & close the door for you. MLM works the same way. No one will open & close the door for you. Only You can do it.

Just like uplines, you need to be one yourself. You need to be a responsible upline to your downlines. Learning is part & parcel when you are in MLM. You will not succeed without learning from someone else. Therefore as an upline, it is your responsibility to teach, train, guide & motivate your downlines. New members will be lost if you don’t train & guide them. You must lead & empower them BUT never spoon feed them. Don’t abuse uplines. There is this saying, give a man a fish, he will feed himself for a day, teach him how to fish, he will feed himself for life.

The Sidelines & Crosslines

Your other team members are your sideline or crossline. They are not from your line of sponsorship. Why border about them you say? They are someone else downlines. But remember, somewhere up in the line, they are probably from one of your upline group. many companies nowadays encourage sideline support probably because there are many sidelines than uplines. Uplines are sometime having limited resources to reach everyone. Sideline & crossline is the best alternative to work as a team & can leverage on more people.

The Company Staff

Having a good relationship with company’s staff is important in having success. Imagine if you were to arrange a seminar or gathering of your members, you can request & invite any of company’s staff or top leaders to give a talk or something to motivate your downlines. Having good relationship with staffs will have great advantage in moving together in the same direction. This is especially important for a new company where the pioneers or 1st level distributors have to work hand in hand to make the company into success.

Uanz Summary,

Having a right MLM team has great effects on one’s success. Choose the right company & uplines is important BUT whatever it is, YOU are still the key to your own success. YOU are the one who are going to make sure making it to the top. No one else except YOU.
